Centenarians and longevity

Emotional stability

Life has not been easy on the island and hills. It is one of the poorest places in Japan. May of the young ones had to leave in search of work/income. The ones who stayed had to be steadfast enough to endure life and all its rigours: poverty, war, traumas, grief, and they are particularly capable at overcoming sorrows, don’t let grief eat you up.
But not even on Okinawa, every old person is blessed with perfect health despite the fact that they all share the same earth, sea and community. (Will power, character, self-esteem, independence?)
