Stones and ruins

The Hag of Beara

Legend has it she turned to stone waiting for her ships to come in. The stone is just west of Tragalee as you climb the hill.

Most people are not aware of the fact that cold water coral and calcinated seaweed can be found in Ireland. The best place to look for it is in tidal pools along the rocky shore.

Places to Visit

Allihies, the copper town.

Origin of the Irish druid

A druid was a member of the priestly and learned class in the ancient Celtic societies of Western Europe, Britain and Ireland.  Druids combined the duties of priest, judge, scholar, and teacher. Do feature prominently in later Irish myth and literature.

A journey into the past

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; and the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel [Tigris]: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates"

Ierland vakanties
